Thunder Match Best 25-Game Start in NBA History

The Oklahoma City Thunder matched the best 25-game start in NBA history after defeating the Phoenix Suns 138-89 in the NBA Cup quarter-finals.

The defending champions have now won 24 of their first 25 games, equalling the Golden State Warriors’ 2015-16 record. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 28 points at Paycom Center, extending his streak of 20-point games to 96.

This victory also marked the Thunder’s 16th consecutive win, the longest in franchise history. They will face the San Antonio Spurs in the semi-finals in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Since the beginning of the 2024-25 season, the Thunder have won 92 of their last 107 regular-season games, following their 68-14 finish at the top of the Western Conference last season. The record for most wins in a single NBA season stands at 73, held by the 2015-16 Warriors.

The Spurs advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 132-119 at Crypto.com Arena.

All matches in the NBA Cup, except the final, count toward regular-season standings. The Thunder reached the final last year but fell to the Milwaukee Bucks.
