Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, made a strong start to their China Open campaign by advancing comfortably to the second round.

The world No. 2 duo needed just 31 minutes to defeat Japan’s Ririna Hiramoto and Kokona Ishikawa 21-16, 21-12 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Centre. Their composed performance saw them control the match from start to finish with aggressive attacking play and solid defence.
Pearly and Thinaah will next face either Japan’s Rui Hirokami and Sayaka Hobara or Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr for a place in the quarter-finals.
Fresh off finishing runners-up at last week’s Japan Open, the Malaysian pair will be aiming to carry their impressive form into another deep run as they continue their pursuit of a first China Open title.
