Kai Wun-Roy King Win First Title Together

Malaysia’s newly formed men’s doubles pair Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King have won the Korean Masters, claiming their first title together in only their third tournament as a partnership.

The Malaysians defeated compatriots Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik 21-13, 21-18 in just 31 minutes at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan.

The victory marks a major breakthrough for Kai Wun and Roy King after they were eliminated in the opening rounds at both the China Open and Taipei Open.

They also entered the final with an advantage in terms of energy after their Japanese semi-final opponents, Shuji Sawada and Daigo Tanioka, withdrew.

For Wei Chong and Wooi Yik, the defeat came in their first final together, with the pair having reached the championship match after a hard-fought three-game semi-final against Japan’s Haruki Kawabe and Kenta Matsukawa.
