Lewis Hamilton admitted he was left frustrated by Ferrari’s race management at the Dutch Grand Prix, comparing the team’s decision-making to the more decisive approach he experienced during his years at Mercedes.
The seven-time world champion finished fourth at Zandvoort after being unable to overtake George Russell in the closing stages, despite running on fresher tyres following a later pit stop than team-mate Charles Leclerc.
As Hamilton quickly closed on Leclerc, he informed Ferrari over team radio:
“I’m quicker than Charles. These tyres are better.”
However, Ferrari chose not to swap the cars immediately, prompting an increasingly frustrated response from Hamilton.
“We are just losing time!”
Once Leclerc eventually pitted, Hamilton added sarcastically:
“A great way of wasting time guys, good job.”
After the race, Hamilton pointed to Mercedes as an example of how strategy calls can be executed more decisively.
“It is difficult when you are looking ahead and you see the two Mercedes drivers, they get the call and it’s done, and they execute straight away.”
Despite his disappointment, Hamilton said he would discuss the matter privately with Ferrari rather than criticise the team publicly, as the Scuderia continue working to improve their race operations during his second season with the team.
