Victor Lai capped a memorable BWF World Championships campaign with a bronze medal, sharing the podium with champion Alex Lanier, runner-up Kodai Naraoka and fellow bronze medallist Chou Tien Chen.
The 21-year-old Canadian spoke highly of Chou’s longevity and dedication to badminton, calling the 36-year-old a legend and an inspiration to players around the world. Chou, meanwhile, praised Lai’s patience and skill, believing the young Canadian has plenty of potential to continue rising.
Lai also looked back on the defining moments of his tournament, including his comeback against Jeon Hyeok Jin, his battle with Lanier and the emotional moment of seeing the Canadian flag raised during the medal ceremony.
With his breakthrough World Championships now behind him, Lai is determined to use the experience as a foundation for further improvement, particularly in his physical conditioning, skills and technique as he looks ahead to the next chapter of his career.
