The NBA and Nike have unveiled a new line of “Specter” uniforms that will be worn by eight of the league’s oldest franchises during the 2026-27 season.
The New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings will receive the new uniforms, which were revealed at an event in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
According to Nike, the designs draw inspiration from each franchise’s history, city heritage and fan culture, celebrating teams with roots stretching back to the earliest days of the NBA.
The Knicks, Celtics and Warriors are the league’s three oldest franchises, all founded before the 1946-47 season. The Kings, Lakers and Pistons followed in 1948-49, while the 76ers and Hawks were established a season later.
Together, the eight franchises have won 53 of the NBA’s 84 championships.
The “Specter” uniforms will join each team’s existing collection of Association, Icon, Classic, Statement and City editions, although the individual teams have yet to announce when they will wear them.
The announcement also coincided with the launch of Nike’s new Standard Issue collection, featuring hoodies, pants, T-shirts and shorts designed to create a unified look across the league.
All 30 NBA teams will wear the new apparel during warmups, practices and road trips throughout the upcoming season.
Nike said the collection is designed around the idea of the “one-of-one hooper,” with the Specter uniforms similarly aiming to blend each franchise’s identity and heritage with a more modern look for the next generation of NBA fans.
