Cavaliers One Win Away After Overtime Grind as Pistons Face Elimination

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals after a hard-fought 117-113 overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons, taking a 3-2 lead in their semi-final series.

James Harden led the way with 30 points as Cleveland overcame a 15-point deficit to secure their first road win of the playoffs. The Cavaliers will now return home for Game 6 on Friday with a chance to close out the series and book a meeting with the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Detroit star Cade Cunningham delivered a strong 39-point performance and helped the Pistons build control at stages, including a late 12-0 run in the fourth quarter that gave them a nine-point advantage with under four minutes left. However, Cleveland responded once again, with Evan Mobley playing a key role in the comeback before the game went into overtime.

In the extra period, Cleveland pulled away with a decisive run, although Cunningham briefly cut the gap late on. Donovan Mitchell added 21 points, while Max Strus scored 20 off the bench and Jarrett Allen recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

After the game, Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson praised Harden’s leadership and composure, saying it was a key reason the team acquired him. He highlighted the veteran’s calm presence in crucial moments.

Cunningham also contributed nine assists and seven rebounds, while Daniss Jenkins added 19 points for Detroit, who now face elimination heading into Game 6.
