Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has confirmed his intention to represent Greece at this year’s FIBA EuroBasket tournament, aiming to guide his national team to its first gold medal in 20 years.

The 30-year-old is coming off another dominant NBA season, averaging 30.4 points on 60.1% shooting, along with 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks. His performance earned him a seventh consecutive All-NBA First Team selection and a third-place finish in the 2025 NBA MVP race.
Antetokounmpo is no stranger to international competition, having represented Greece at several major events, including the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2022 EuroBasket, where he put up 29.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. Greece went unbeaten in the group stage that year before being eliminated by Germany in the quarterfinals.
This time, Giannis returns with high hopes of ending Greece’s gold medal drought, with their only EuroBasket title coming back in 2005. Greece has been drawn into Group C, alongside Italy, Spain, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Cyprus.
Greece will begin its campaign on August 28 against Italy, with Antetokounmpo once again expected to be the focal point of the squad’s title ambitions.
