Malaysia’s men’s singles players may not carry the same medal expectations as some of the country’s other badminton contenders at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, but they are still aiming to make an impact.
National No. 1 Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hoh will compete in the individual event, while Eogene Ewe and Kong Wei Xiang will feature in the team challenge. All four will be making their Asian Games debuts.
Coach Tey Seu Bock is encouraged by their recent training and hopes they can carry that form into Japan. For Jun Hao, the tournament also offers a chance to respond after a difficult season in which he has yet to reach a quarter-final in 12 events.
