Lando Norris Faces Major Setback in F1 Title Race After Canadian GP Crash

Following a dramatic Canadian Grand Prix, the battle for the 2025 Formula 1 championship has taken a new turn—one that significantly hurts McLaren’s Lando Norris.

The incident in Montreal saw Norris collide with teammate Oscar Piastri, costing him valuable points in the drivers’ standings. As a result, Norris now trails Piastri by 22 points heading into the next race in Austria. The Australian driver has emerged as the frontrunner for the title, with Norris slipping further from contention.

The setback comes at a critical moment, as both George Russell and Max Verstappen capitalized with podium finishes. Verstappen now sits just 21 points behind Norris, while Russell has reduced his own deficit to 40 points.

Despite Norris’ retirement from the race, McLaren continues to lead the constructors’ standings comfortably. The team holds a 175-point advantage over second-place Mercedes, who enjoyed a strong one-three finish in Canada.

The title race remains wide open, but Norris will need a strong response in the upcoming rounds to stay in contention.
