Malaysia made a strong start to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games men’s team event, cruising past Mongolia 3-0 to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Leong Jun Hao opened with a 21-13, 21-12 win, before Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani dominated the doubles 21-5, 21-5. Justin Hoh then sealed the tie with another convincing 21-7, 21-5 victory.
But the real test comes next. Malaysia will face top seeds Indonesia in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, with Rexy Mainaky urging the players to show a “never-say-die” attitude.
Mongolia was just the warm-up. Indonesia is the real test. Can our boys pull off a major upset?
