NBA veteran Marcus Morris is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of writing over $250,000 in bad checks to two major Las Vegas casinos in 2024.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Morris allegedly issued checks totaling $115,000 to the MGM Grand in May and $150,000 to the Wynn in June — fully aware that the checks would bounce. When the casinos weren’t repaid, arrest warrants were issued.
Morris was detained Sunday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida and has remained in custody since. During a court appearance on Tuesday, his attorneys argued for his release, claiming he is actively repaying the debt. However, the judge denied the request, ruling that Morris will remain in jail until extradition to Nevada or unless the warrants are withdrawn.
Morris appeared calm in court while his legal team made their case. His twin brother, former NBA champion Markieff Morris, was present in support. Their agent, Yony Noy, called the situation “absolute insanity” but has not provided further comment.
Marcus Morris last played in the NBA in 2024.
