More than a decade after his tragic skiing accident, Michael Schumacher’s legacy continues to captivate the motorsport world. While his health remains a closely guarded secret, one of the most iconic pieces from his legendary career will go under the hammer — his racing helmet from the mid-1990s, a defining era in his rise to Formula 1 greatness.

This helmet, worn by the seven-time world champion during one of his key career victories, will be one of the highlights of the upcoming Sotheby’s auction titled “The Champions – Schumacher & F1 Legends”, taking place from July 23 to 30. Estimated between $50,000 and $70,000, the final bid is expected to far exceed the initial valuation due to Schumacher’s almost mythical status among fans.
The auction will feature over 300 exclusive items from F1 legends, including race suits, boots, mechanical parts, and watches tied to names like Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Gilles Villeneuve, Charles Leclerc, and many more.
Another standout item is Schumacher’s helmet from his victory at the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix with Ferrari, expected to fetch between $40,000 and $60,000.
This rare event is not only a chance for collectors to own a piece of racing history but also a powerful tribute to the man who helped shape an era of Formula 1 dominance. Even in his absence, Schumacher’s presence continues to loom large over the sport he once ruled.
