ando Norris believes he deserved to win the Spanish Grand Prix, after an ill-timed Virtual Safety Car turned a seemingly comfortable victory into a frustrating third-place finish.
Norris had built a six-second lead from pole before the VSC came out on Lap 15. Unfortunately for McLaren, he had already passed the pit entry, allowing Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen to pit under the VSC and gain a huge strategic advantage.
Norris was forced to pit later and dropped down the order, eventually fighting back to finish third. Antonelli went on to claim his eighth win of the season, while Verstappen finished second.
Norris called the outcome frustrating, while even Antonelli admitted that Norris deserved the victory.
Pole. Six-second lead. Then one VSC changed everything.
