George Russell remains confident about securing a strong F1 seat in 2026 should Mercedes opt to replace him with Max Verstappen.

While Russell has yet to sign an extension for the 2026 season, Verstappen’s uncertain Red Bull future has fueled speculation about a possible switch to Mercedes, potentially at Russell’s expense.
Asked about the prospect of moving to another team, Russell said he’s “pretty confident” in his chances, citing his proven track record and loyalty to Mercedes.
Despite interest from other teams, Russell emphasized that any move would still go through Mercedes, who have managed his career for over eight years. He added that while nothing is guaranteed, the chances of leaving the team are “exceptionally low.”
