Wemby Cleared: Spurs Star Set for Early Return After Shoulder Scare

Victor Wembanyama has officially been cleared to return to NBA action, months ahead of schedule. The 21-year-old Spurs phenom had been sidelined since February due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, but confirmed to L’Équipe on Monday: “I’m officially cleared to return.”

The 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year and All-Star averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, and 3.7 assists over 46 games before San Antonio shut him down on February 20. Originally expected back in time for training camp in September, Wemby’s early clearance offers a massive boost to the Spurs, who are building their team around the 7-foot-3 French sensation.

Wembanyama has been courtside in Las Vegas this week supporting San Antonio’s Summer League squad, visibly eager to rejoin the action for a full sophomore campaign.
