Zii Jia Crashes Out of Indonesian Masters After Second-Round Defeat

Professional men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia saw his Indonesian Masters campaign end in the second round following a loss to Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul on Thursday (Jan 22).

Coming off a morale-boosting victory over India’s HS Prannoy a day earlier, Zii Jia looked to carry that momentum into his clash with Panitchaphon and took the fight to his opponent.

However, the world No. 44 Thai proved too consistent and composed. After dropping the opening game, Panitchaphon turned the match around to seal a 21-15, 17-21, 21-8 win in a 57-minute encounter.

The defeat brought an end to Zii Jia’s run in Jakarta, despite flashes of promise shown earlier in the tournament.
