Guardiola: Man City Still Alive in Title Race but Rely on Arsenal Slip

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are still “alive” in the Premier League title race but must rely on Arsenal dropping points after a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

City moved to within two points of leaders Arsenal with two matches remaining for both sides. First-half goals from Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush, both assisted by Phil Foden, set the platform before Savinho added a late third to seal the win. The result keeps City in contention for what could be their seventh league title in nine seasons.

Guardiola admitted his rotated squad had to work hard against a disciplined Palace side and stressed that the title race is largely out of City’s hands, depending on Arsenal’s results. He said if Mikel Arteta’s side win their remaining games, there is “nothing to talk about” regarding City’s chances.

Looking ahead, Guardiola shifted focus to the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley, with City aiming for a domestic cup double after already winning the League Cup. He emphasised the importance of recovery and preparation, while acknowledging respect for the competition after losing the last two finals.

City will next face Bournemouth in the league, but their title hopes hinge on Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures.
