Russell Westbrook has announced his retirement from the NBA after an 18-season career. The 37-year-old made the decision after finishing last season with the Sacramento Kings and receiving no new offers this summer.

The nine-time All-Star leaves as the NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles with 209, along with 27,176 points and 10,351 assists. He also won the 2017 MVP after averaging a triple-double for the season.
Westbrook spent just one season with the Houston Rockets, averaging 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7 assists in 2019-20. He later played for the Wizards, Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets and Kings.
One of the most explosive and polarising players of his generation, Westbrook leaves the NBA with a legacy built on intensity, athleticism and an unmatched triple-double record.
