Mike Perry has been forced to make a dramatic change to his upcoming fight after Dillon Danis withdrew just 48 hours before their scheduled showdown.
Perry announced the change during a pre-fight press conference on Thursday, revealing that Danis would no longer be competing on Saturday’s Dual Arena card.
Stepping in at short notice will be UFC and MVP MMA veteran Brandon Jenkins, who has agreed to replace Danis and face Perry with very little time to prepare.
The late change means Perry will now headline Saturday’s event against an opponent he had not originally expected to face. The Dual Arena card is scheduled to take place this weekend and is expected to be broadcast on pay-per-view.
Danis’ withdrawal comes just two days before fight night, leaving Jenkins with an enormous challenge as he prepares to step into the spotlight on extremely short notice.
For Perry, the situation presents another unexpected test. Rather than preparing for the style and game plan of Danis, he will now have to quickly adjust his strategy for Jenkins.
Despite the last-minute disruption, Perry remains scheduled to compete and will now look to make the most of the opportunity to headline the event.
