Mbappé Embraces Ballon d’Or Talk After World Cup Heroics

Kylian Mbappé believes 2026 could finally be the year he wins the Ballon d’Or, after a historic World Cup campaign with France.

The Real Madrid star scored 10 goals at the 2026 World Cup, winning the Golden Boot despite France finishing fourth. His tournament haul also took him to 22 World Cup goals, making him the competition’s all-time leading scorer.

Mbappé admitted the Ballon d’Or talk is now impossible to ignore, especially while playing for Real Madrid. He said people regularly approach him about the award and naturally associate him with both individual and team honours.

However, the 27-year-old still has one major prize missing from his collection — the Ballon d’Or.

10 World Cup goals. All-time World Cup top scorer. Is this finally Mbappé’s Ballon d’Or year?
