Chelsea produced a stunning comeback from 2-0 down to beat Leeds in a chaotic 9-goal Carabao Cup thriller at Stamford Bridge and reach the fourth round.
Leeds dominated the first half and deservedly led through Tarik Muharemovic before Brenden Aaronson doubled their advantage shortly after half-time.
Xabi Alonso then turned to his big guns, bringing on Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto and Reece James — and the game completely changed.
Palmer scored twice in just two minutes, first from the penalty spot before curling home from the edge of the box. Neto then put Chelsea ahead, while Rogers played a major role in creating four goals from open play.
Chelsea continued to run riot, with Danny Welbeck and Valentin Barco adding further goals. Leeds briefly threatened a comeback through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Chelsea eventually finished the night with six goals.
Both teams heavily rotated their squads, but Chelsea’s substitutes ultimately made the difference.
2-0 down. 6-3 up. Palmer and Rogers changed everything. What a comeback!
