Malaysia made a winning start to the Asian Games women’s team event, sweeping Hong Kong 3-0 to book their place in the last eight.

Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah led the charge as Malaysia returned to the Asian Games women’s team competition after missing the previous edition. The squad also features a number of young players, including 16-year-old Low Zi Yu.
The result continues the encouraging progress shown by Malaysia’s women’s team, who reached the Uber Cup quarter-finals earlier this year for the first time in 16 years.
The journey is only beginning. Can Pearly-Thinaah and the young Malaysian squad bring home an Asian Games medal?
