Cole Palmer Sees First-Ever Red Card as Chelsea Suffer Historic Blow Against Tottenham

Cole Palmer endured a night to forget as Chelsea lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, receiving the first red card of his senior career in a damaging Premier League defeat.

Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders gifted Spurs the lead in the 77th minute when he punched Mateus Fernandes’ corner into his own net. Palmer’s evening then took a turn for the worse as he received a second yellow card in the 80th minute for a late challenge on Conor Gallagher, leaving Chelsea with 10 men.

Tottenham made their numerical advantage count when Mathys Tel produced a brilliant solo run before firing home in the 87th minute. The victory marked a rare success for Spurs at Stamford Bridge and dealt another setback to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso.

Palmer’s dismissal also saw Chelsea reach an unwanted milestone: their 100th red card in Premier League history, making them only the third club to reach the century mark after Everton and Arsenal.
