Atlético Madrid have reportedly promised Julián Álvarez that they would lower his release clause to facilitate a future move to Barcelona — but only if the Argentine striker helps repair his relationship with the club.
Álvarez was heavily linked with Barcelona throughout the summer, but Atlético ultimately refused to negotiate with their La Liga rivals. The club publicly insisted there would be “zero consideration” of a transfer to Barça.
However, reports now claim Atlético could be willing to reduce the clause if Álvarez returns to a positive relationship with the club and performs at his previous level. That would potentially reopen the door for Barcelona in a future window rather than an immediate transfer.
Barcelona still want Álvarez. Atlético want him back onside. And the door to Barça may not be completely closed…
