Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has expressed his desire for women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah to continue their careers under the national setup.

Currently ranked world No. 3, Pearly-Thinaah have yet to sign a new contract with BAM, amid speculation they may pursue an independent path.
During a visit to the Badminton Academy of Malaysia in Bukit Kiara on Friday (June 13), Tengku Zafrul said he has instructed BAM’s management to do everything possible to retain the pair.
“I’ve told the management to resolve this quickly. It’s important to provide certainty so that both the players and the management can stay focused,” he said.
He stressed the importance of keeping top talents within the BAM structure and reiterated his request for the management to make their best effort to ensure Pearly-Thinaah remain with the national team.
The duo recently reached the final of the Indonesia Open, finishing as runners-up to China’s Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning in the Super 1000 event.
