Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has suggested that Valtteri Bottas could be in line for a full-time return to Formula 1, as speculation grows over a potential move to Cadillac.

The Finnish driver, without a race seat in 2025 after leaving Sauber at the end of last season, rejoined Mercedes as a reserve driver, having previously partnered Lewis Hamilton from 2017 to 2022.
Rumours of a Cadillac switch intensified after Bottas posted a light-hearted video on social media, where he inspected a Cadillac SUV and called it a “nice seat.” Reports in June placed him at the top of Cadillac’s driver shortlist, with Motorsport Week noting his conversations with Team Principal Graeme Lowdon.
However, Bottas has also been linked with Alpine, who will become a Mercedes power unit customer next year. In June, he expressed on the Beyond the Grid podcast his strong desire to return to the F1 grid.
