Nico Rosberg believes Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are now evenly matched in outright performance at McLaren, though the latter still holds a “scary” advantage in the tightly contested F1 2025 title race.

Heading into the summer break, the McLaren teammates were separated by just nine points at the top of the standings after Norris edged championship leader Piastri to win the Hungarian Grand Prix. The pair have locked out first and second place in the last four races — just one short of the all-time F1 record — pushing them well ahead of reigning champion Max Verstappen and setting up a direct fight for the Drivers’ Championship over the remaining 10 races.
Norris, 25, had been the favourite early in the season after comfortably outpacing Piastri in their first two years together, but the Australian has led the standings since his Saudi Arabian GP victory in April.
Speaking on The F1 Show, Rosberg said, “You can’t really say Lando is even a smidge quicker anymore. At some point, we need to stop saying that because there’s no basis for it. Oscar has just been extremely quick always, and I see them on a par now.”
