New Inter Miami signing Casemiro has showered praise on teammate Lionel Messi, describing the Argentine superstar as “one of the gods of football, if not the god of football” during his official unveiling.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United midfielder admitted that the opportunity to play alongside Messi was a major factor in his decision to join the MLS club. After spending years trying to stop the Argentine as an opponent in Spain, Casemiro said fulfilling his dream of becoming Messi’s teammate was impossible to turn down.
“Of course I’m here because of him, to help him and Inter Miami,” Casemiro said, adding that he still has the hunger to win trophies despite leaving European football. He also praised Messi’s leadership and influence, calling him one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.
Casemiro’s arrival further strengthens Inter Miami’s star-studded squad as the club looks to challenge for more silverware, with the Brazilian eager to begin a new chapter alongside the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
