Chelsea Consider Shock Emi Martínez Move

Chelsea are considering a late move for Emiliano Martínez after the Aston Villa goalkeeper was offered to the club by his representatives.

The situation has emerged after Robert Sánchez’s poor performance against Fulham, where a costly error raised fresh questions over Chelsea’s goalkeeping options.

Martínez, 33, is available after Villa signed Zion Suzuki from Parma for nearly £30m, effectively pushing the Argentine out of their plans. He had also been close to joining Juventus earlier this summer, but that move collapsed.

Chelsea are now weighing whether to replace Sánchez with the experienced World Cup winner before the transfer window closes. However, the club had previously been comfortable with Sánchez and youngster Mike Penders, so a deal is far from guaranteed.

One bad game may have suddenly opened the door for Emi Martínez at Stamford Bridge.
