Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei has called for collective responsibility following the national team’s disappointing Thomas Cup campaign, stressing that no single individual should be blamed.

Instead of pointing fingers, Chong Wei emphasised the need for everyone — players, coaches, and officials — to work together to address the shortcomings and rebuild stronger for the future.
He highlighted that constant changes in coaching setups and systems can disrupt progress, urging patience and stability to allow proper development over time.
The former world No. 1 believes Malaysia still has the potential to compete at the highest level, but improvements must be made collectively, particularly in strengthening depth and consistency across the squad.
His message comes after Malaysia’s latest Thomas Cup disappointment, with Chong Wei calling for unity and long-term planning rather than quick fixes or blame.
