Coach Teo Kok Siang has praised Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani for reaching world No. 1 in men’s doubles, urging them to enjoy the moment amid growing pressure. The Malaysian pair has held the top spot for three straight weeks and stayed in the top three since December 2024.

Their journey has been remarkable, especially after briefly splitting in 2023. Reuniting in 2024, they won titles at the Japan, China, Arctic, and Indian Opens and finished runners-up at the World Tour Finals.
“They should take pride in their rise and use it as motivation, not pressure,” said Kok Siang. “We’ll always support them through ups and downs.”
As defending champions, Sze Fei-Izzuddin will face high expectations at the Japan Open (July 15–20) and China Open (July 22–27).
Though they’ve had quarter-final exits in recent tournaments, Kok Siang remains confident. Discussions on their inclusion in the Road to Gold program will be held during the current break.
