Malaysia’s hopes of celebrating a home title ended after men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani fell in the Malaysian Masters final to Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard.

The third-seeded Malaysians were unable to find their rhythm against the Danish duo, going down 16-21, 17-21 in a 41-minute final at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil.
Sze Fei admitted the Danes applied relentless pressure throughout the match and prevented the pair from settling into their game. The defeat also marked another disappointment for Sze Fei-Izzuddin in the tournament final after they were runners-up in the 2017 edition as well.
Despite missing out on the title, the Malaysian pair can take encouragement from another strong run, having earlier beaten world No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the semi-finals.
They will now shift focus to the Singapore Open, where another challenge awaits in the opening round.
