Double DNF Disaster Drops Racing Bulls in Standings After British GP Crashfest

Racing Bulls endured a nightmare outing at the British Grand Prix as both Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar failed to finish, costing the team valuable points in the Constructors’ Championship.

Lawson retired on the opening lap after a collision with Esteban Ocon’s Haas. Though ruled a racing incident, the contact ended the New Zealander’s race immediately. Ocon was able to continue.

Hadjar, meanwhile, switched to slick tyres on the Formation Lap—a bold strategy shared by a few others but ultimately the wrong call in wet conditions. After the Safety Car restart, Hadjar crashed into the back of Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes, ending both their races on the spot.

Hadjar blamed poor visibility and cold tyres for the crash. “I couldn’t see anything when we restarted. By the time I saw Kimi’s light, it was already too late,” he explained.

Lawson also expressed frustration, saying the team had a strong car and missed a golden opportunity to capitalize in tricky conditions. “I wasn’t being aggressive. A gap opened up and I just went for it to survive the first lap,” he said.

The double DNF dropped Racing Bulls to seventh in the Constructors’ standings, now level on points with Aston Martin and behind a resurgent Kick Sauber team.
