Christian Horner has made his first public statement following his departure as Red Bull Racing’s CEO and Team Principal, expressing “immense pride” and a “heavy heart” after leading the team for two decades.
Horner, who took the helm in 2005 at just 31 years old, helped shape Red Bull into one of the most dominant forces in Formula 1 history. Under his leadership, the team amassed 124 race wins, 107 pole positions, 287 podiums, six Constructors’ Championships, and eight Drivers’ titles.
His departure was confirmed on Wednesday, with Racing Bulls Team Principal Laurent Mekies stepping into the top Red Bull role and Alan Permane taking over Mekies’ previous position.
In a farewell message posted to social media, Horner thanked the factory staff, partners, fans, and rivals alike for their support and inspiration throughout his tenure.
“It’s been a privilege being part of and leading this epic team,” Horner wrote. “I am so proud of our collective accomplishments… The competition has made every victory sweeter and every setback an opportunity to grow.”
He also reflected on the team’s transformation from newcomers to an “F1 powerhouse” and offered his best wishes for their continued success, particularly looking ahead to the 2026 regulation changes.
Horner’s exit marks the end of a defining chapter in Red Bull’s Formula 1 story, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, fierce competition, and sustained innovation.
