Malaysia’s professional men’s doubles shuttler Goh Sze Fei has denied recent reports claiming that he and his partner Nur Izzuddin Rumsani are planning a return to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

Instead, the 28-year-old clarified that they are happy to continue their journey as independent players under the guidance of their current coach, Teo Kok Siang.
Sze Fei said that their recent runner-up finish at the Japan Open further strengthened their confidence and resolve to remain as professionals.
“We would like to clarify that we are happy with our status as professional players, and reaching the Japan Open final has boosted our belief and motivation to keep improving under the guidance of Teo Kok Siang,” Sze Fei shared via an Instagram Story today.
“Our relationship with BAM remains good, and we are always grateful for the support they gave us during our time with them. We hope this statement puts an end to the false rumours.”
Speculation had been circulating about a potential return to BAM for the former world No.1 pair, 10 months after they left the national body to pursue a professional career.
Since going independent, Sze Fei-Izzuddin have enjoyed impressive results, including titles at the China Open and India Open, solidifying their reputation as one of Malaysia’s top doubles pairs.
