Khabib’s Father Says Ferguson Fight Still on the Table Despite Latest Cancellation

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father has made it clear that a future fight with Tony Ferguson remains a priority, even after Ferguson withdrew from their scheduled lightweight title bout just six days before UFC 223.

Despite this being the fourth time the highly anticipated matchup has been cancelled, Khabib’s father believes the fight will eventually happen.

“As long as Ferguson is able to walk, we’ll demand this fight. We’re ready to fight him anytime and under any circumstances. We wish him a full recovery and will be waiting,” he said.

He also acknowledged the new challenge in Max Holloway, who stepped in as a replacement.

“Holloway is a very dangerous opponent. He dropped Jose Aldo in his last fight, he’s fast, smart, and this should be a very exciting matchup. I don’t think he’s any less interesting than Ferguson.”

Once the main event of UFC 223 begins in Brooklyn this Saturday, Ferguson will be stripped of his interim lightweight title.
