Lisandro Martinez has publicly questioned Manchester United’s hierarchy following their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, calling for greater investment to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

The Argentine defender pointed the finger at football director Jason Wilcox, saying he expected more from the club’s leadership after United’s impressive campaign last season. Martinez also admitted the players must take responsibility, but insisted that stronger recruitment is essential to compete with Europe’s top sides.
United fell behind inside the opening minute through Pablo Barrios before Ademola Lookman sealed Atletico’s victory in the 79th minute. Leny Yoro’s red card made the visitors’ task even harder, extending Michael Carrick’s side’s winless run to five matches in all competitions.
Martinez also questioned the constant focus on changing managers, suggesting that the problems at Old Trafford go beyond the dugout. His comments have put fresh pressure on the club’s leadership at a time when results are failing to meet expectations.
