Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League table after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Burnley, a result that also confirmed the latter’s relegation.

The decisive moment came early in the match when Erling Haaland scored the only goal, giving City all three points in a tense encounter at Turf Moor.

The victory sees City move above Arsenal at the summit — level on points but ahead on goals scored — with just a handful of matches remaining in a tightly contested title race.

For Burnley, the defeat sealed their fate. The club is now mathematically relegated to the Championship after managing just four wins all season and falling too far behind safety with only four games left.

It marks another difficult campaign for Burnley, who return to the second tier after just one season back in the top flight, highlighting the growing gap between promoted sides and the Premier League’s elite.

Meanwhile, City’s win extends their strong run of form and puts them firmly in control of their title destiny as they chase yet another league crown under Pep Guardiola.
