Manchester United were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at Fulham, with Matheus Cunha’s deflected 89th-minute equaliser rescuing a point for Michael Carrick’s side.
The result leaves United with just five points from their opening five Premier League games — their joint-lowest return at this stage in the Premier League era. They have also now gone three league games without a win, following defeats to Manchester City and Brighton.
The performance raised further concerns. Fulham covered around 6km more than United, while Gary Neville heavily criticised their lack of intensity during the second half. Carrick, however, rejected fitness concerns and insisted his team finished the game strongly.
With Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Leeds and Como waiting after the international break, the pressure is only going to grow.
