McGregor Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery After UFC 329 Injury

Conor McGregor has confirmed his knee surgery was successful after suffering another devastating injury during his UFC 329 comeback against Max Holloway.

“Surgery went excellent. I am confident,” McGregor shared following the procedure.

The former two-division champion tore the ACL and damaged the meniscus in his right knee early in the rematch with Holloway, mirroring their first meeting in 2013 when he suffered the same ligament injury. It marked another heartbreaking setback, five years after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

The injury has sparked debate over McGregor’s future. Darren Till believes it’s time for the Irishman to retire, suggesting it’s “probably best to just let it go.” Former UFC champion Chris Weidman, however, believes McGregor will fight again because he won’t want his career to end in such fashion.

McGregor has already made his intentions clear. Responding to a fan on X, he insisted he wants a trilogy fight with Holloway next and has no interest in any other opponent.

Whether he can make another return remains uncertain. McGregor will turn 39 next year and now faces another lengthy rehabilitation after suffering two fight-ending leg injuries in his last two UFC appearances.
