Namajunas Commits to Flyweight in Pursuit of Two-Division UFC Gold

Rose Namajunas says she has no intention of returning to strawweight, reaffirming her goal of becoming a two-division UFC champion at flyweight. The former two-time strawweight titleholder has gone 2-2 at 125 pounds since 2023 but remains focused on her flyweight ambitions.

Ahead of her fight against Miranda Maverick in Atlanta, Namajunas addressed doubts about her move up in weight, saying she knows what’s best for her career. While she admits to mixed results, she believes many factors have influenced those outcomes.

Namajunas cited a lack of fresh matchups at 115 pounds as one reason for the change, noting her career at strawweight had become filled with rematches. She sees flyweight as her next big challenge.

Now 32, Namajunas is looking to bounce back after a decision loss to Erin Blanchfield and aims to rebuild for a title shot—just as she once did at strawweight following a loss to Karolina Kowalkiewicz in Atlanta.
