UFC welterweight Kiefer Crosbie has formally requested his release from the promotion, making clear he intends to step away from mixed martial arts while pursuing other combat sports opportunities.

Speculation about Crosbie’s retirement surfaced after he posted a photo of UFC gloves on Instagram, thanking the organization. However, Crosbie later clarified that while he no longer wants to compete in MMA, he has no plans to stop fighting altogether.
“I’ve been doing this sport a long time,” Crosbie said. “My body is absolutely rallied… to be honest, it’s not worth it continuing on the MMA journey. That being said, that doesn’t mean I’m retired. I absolutely would love to fight again, multiple times, and explore different avenues.”
Crosbie’s UFC tenure ended in controversy when he suffered a loss at UFC Shanghai after opponent Taiyilake Nueraji landed an illegal knee but was allowed to continue. Crosbie now hopes to move forward in new combat sports disciplines, provided the UFC grants his release.
