Rousey Return Breaks U.S. MMA Viewership Record on Netflix

Ronda Rousey made a stunning comeback as the first live MMA event on Netflix set a new U.S. viewership record for the sport.

The event, promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and held in Inglewood, California, drew up to 17 million global viewers, including a peak of 11.6 million in the United States—surpassing the previous MMA record set in 2011.

Rousey needed just 17 seconds to defeat Gina Carano via her trademark armbar, marking her return to the cage after nearly a decade away, while Carano competed for the first time in 17 years.

The card also featured a welterweight bout where Nate Diaz faced Mike Perry, with Perry winning via doctor’s stoppage, and a heavyweight clash where Francis Ngannou scored a first-round knockout over Philipe Lins.
