Malaysian badminton player Ong Yew Sin has officially married Japan’s Aya Ohori, with the couple registering their marriage at the National Registration Department (NRD) in Melaka two days ago. The ceremony was witnessed by family representatives and officiated by NRD officer Nur Fatehah Razali.

The union of Yew Sin, 30, and Ohori, 28, blends two cultures and reflects years of mutual understanding and adaptation. Yew Sin is a men’s doubles bronze medalist at the 2021 World Championships, while Ohori, who recently retired, won titles including the 2024 Australian Open.
Their cross-national love story joins a list of badminton’s most celebrated couples, such as Lee Chong Wei and Wong Mew Choo, and Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang. What sets them apart is not only their different nationalities but also that they competed in separate disciplines.
