Cristiano Ronaldo has given his clearest indication yet that his legendary career could be coming to an end, admitting that the 2026/27 season will probably be his final year in football.
The 41-year-old Portugal captain, who now plays for Al-Nassr, has enjoyed a remarkable 25-year career, winning major trophies with Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ronaldo said he wants to leave behind a “spectacular legacy” and is already thinking about life after football, including travelling, spending more time with his family and playing padel.
He currently has 976 career goals, leaving him just 24 short of the historic 1,000-goal milestone. He will continue playing for Al-Nassr this season as he chases that landmark.
After more than two decades at the top, football could soon be preparing to say goodbye to one of its greatest-ever goalscorers.
