Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says rebuilding the club is like “building a Formula One car,” as the Red Devils continue to struggle under Ruben Amorim.

Ratcliffe, whose Ineos group owns a third of Mercedes F1, admitted on The Times’ The Business podcast that the club’s first year under his partial ownership has been focused on putting United on a “sustainable, healthy footing.”
United have suffered three league defeats this season and a humiliating League Cup exit to fourth-tier Grimsby Town, sparking fan frustration over the team’s direction.
Since Ratcliffe’s arrival, United have undergone sweeping changes — including a new CEO, sporting director, and manager — alongside major staff cuts. Despite setbacks, Ratcliffe insists the project remains long-term, aiming to restore United’s identity both on and off the pitch.
