Wayne Rooney has criticised Mohamed Salah’s recent performances, suggesting the Liverpool star’s “work ethic” has dipped during their poor run of form.

Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea marked a third straight defeat, with Rooney saying Salah “looked lost” and failed to help defensively when his full-back was “getting torn apart.”
“He’s not getting back and helping,” said Rooney on The Wayne Rooney Show. “When it’s going well, the team accepts it, but lately I’d question his work rate.”
Salah, who turns 33 this year, has just two Premier League goals so far. Rooney believes Arne Slot could adapt Salah’s role, similar to how Sir Alex Ferguson moved Cristiano Ronaldo inside to maintain team balance.
“Maybe move him inside,” Rooney suggested. “He still has the brilliance to score, but you need that work ethic out wide.”
