Malaysia’s Thomas Cup campaign came to an end after a 0-3 defeat to defending champions China in the quarter-finals in Horsens, Denmark.

The national team were unable to match the strength and consistency of the 11-time champions, who controlled all three ties to seal a comprehensive victory and end Malaysia’s hopes of ending their long title drought.
The tie began with China taking command in the opening singles before the pressure shifted to Malaysia’s key doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who were tasked with keeping their side alive. However, they were unable to turn the momentum around as China extended their dominance to close out the tie without needing a decider.
Malaysia’s exit once again prolongs their wait for a Thomas Cup title, with their last triumph still coming back in 1992.
Despite reaching the quarter-finals, the defeat highlights the gap Malaysia still need to close against the world’s top badminton powerhouse as China continue their march towards another title challenge.
