The Cleveland Cavaliers are embracing the belief that 2026 could mark their return to genuine NBA title contention, and the organisation is making sure fans are part of the journey every step of the way.

Under coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers have impressed with sharp in-game adjustments, effective rotations and disciplined schemes throughout the playoffs. Key players including Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Max Strus and James Harden have also stepped up with strong performances as Cleveland pushes deeper into the postseason.

Away from the court, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has been finding ways to bring supporters closer to the playoff atmosphere.

The franchise has not reached the Eastern Conference Finals since 2018, when LeBron James guided the team during his second stint in Cleveland. Before James arrived as the No. 1 draft pick in 2003, the Cavaliers’ previous conference finals appearance came in 1992.

Now led by Mitchell, the Cavaliers are eager to prove they can build another championship-calibre era of basketball.

During the playoff series against the Detroit Pistons, Gilbert helped fans attend games by organising transportation, including buses, while also hosting receptions before games and providing tickets for supporters.

Mitchell expressed appreciation for the organisation’s efforts and praised the relationship between the team and its fan base.

“I love this place. Every time I think there is a max on how much you can love being somewhere, then it continues,” Mitchell said.

The Cavaliers believe fan support can play a decisive role during the playoffs, treating the crowd as an essential “sixth man” as they battle for postseason success.
